'Unspoken' is the 2nd full-length album by Luo, and the first to be released since the project's reformation as a 2-piece now consisting of producers and multi-instrumentalists Josh Trinnaman and Barney Sage, based in Brighton & Bristol respectively.

The album is an exploration into merging the aesthetics of multiple genres ranging from IDM, Math/Post/Prog Rock, Metal, Folk/Acoustic, Neo-Classical, Hip-Hop/Jazz, Ambient, Jungle/DnB/UK Bass styles and many others. Essentially, the duo's aim was to try and include an element from almost every style of music that they adore and to find a way for all of these various, sometimes disparate genres to co-exist.

It mingles the approaches of producing 'organic' studio-recorded live instrumental music with the process of making an electronic music album, such that the distinction between the two becomes indiscernible at times with these two approaches feeding into and intertwining with one another to create a new hybrid context. This approach and philosophy was central not only to how the record sounds, but how it was put together.

From the outset the concept was to explore darker and faster-paced, more visceral territory whilst maintaining the instrumentally melodic and introspective glitchy electronic DNA that has always been present in Luo, infused with the moody, aquatic and spacious vibes of dark UK Bass and electronic tunes from the 90's and early 2000's.

Being influenced by many artists such as the likes of Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Burial, Tigran Hamasyan, The Mars Volta, King Crimson, Nick Drake, Nobuo Uematsu, Amon Tobin and many others, 'Unspoken' is a turbo-charged journey through showcasing these inspirations and seeing what happens when you combine them.

'Unspoken' gets its name from its instrumental nature and the aim of communicating ideas and emotions wordlessly, as well as the nature of how the record was made, as the duo live hundreds of miles apart and were rarely in the same room during its creation.
